Fusion Awards 2012

 

If you know someone who goes that extra mile to help others then the Fusion Awards would like to hear from you.

The nomination process for the 2012 North West Fusion Awards is open.

From those working in a voluntary capacity to those reaching new heights in their chosen career, the Fusion Awards want to reward their endeavours.

The event aims to improve community relations by providing a platform to celebrate the positive contribution made by individuals and organizations in the community.

They are open to all regardless of culture, background or religion, and are sponsored by Asian Image.

In 2011 winners included Polish Community worker Magdalena Stryjewska, Lancaster based charity The Abaseen Foundation, Young Neighbourhood Champion Shannon Doherty and boxer Haroon Khan.

The finalists will attend a dazzling dinner event on 26 May.

The Categories

>> Entrepreneur of the year  A business person who in the past year has seen his or her idea reach fruition through simple determination and hard work.

>> Community group of the Year  We want to hear from community and voluntary groups that make a valued contribution to the towns and cities in which they reside.

>> Man of the year  Do you know a man who has excelled in the past year in their chosen career or has battled against the odds to inspire others through their dedicated voluntary and charity work?

>> Woman of the year  Do you know a woman who has excelled in the past year in their chosen career or has battled against the odds to inspire others through their dedicated voluntary and charity work?

>> Achievement in Sport Award We are looking for sportsmen, women and teams who have excelled in their chosen sport or those who are helping others reach their full potential.

>> Public Service Award  Is presented to an individual who has excelled in a public service role (Council, Police, Fire, Health) OR who has led a project that has had a positive impact on community relations, social inclusion and health and welfare.

>> Community Cohesion award  Will be awarded to an individual or group who has helped break down cultural and religious barriers between communities through pioneering voluntary or paid-for work.

>> Youth Leadership Award  This is presented to a young person or group who has helped to dispel myths about their community OR volunteered for the betterment of others.

>> Education  Achievement Award  We are looking for students in schools, colleges and universities who have achieved outstanding results or completed their courses despite personal issues. How to nominate someone.

All you have to do is take a look at the categories and simply tell us in no more than 400 words why you, your chosen person or your group should be nominated as a finalist for next year's event which takes place in May.

The nominee must be a resident or working in the North West of England. Closing date for all applications is March 31, 2012
