Salvation Army Harvest Appeal

The Salvation Army in Preston  responds as we are able to help people who are roofless or destitute.  This includes offering free meals, showers, clothing and bedding through our drop in for homeless people.

 

Throughout the year there is a large demand for Food Parcels which are only available on referral from a recognised agency such as Social Services or a supported housing project. These are given both to homeless individuals and to families in crisis.

During the autumn we are grateful to receive many donations of food from churches, schools and other groups which are collected at

 Harvest celebrations.

 

Therefore we are sending out this appeal to churches and the community asking for immediate donations of non perishable foods; (especially items that require a minimum of preparation and cooking).

• Canned food including, meat, fish, vegetables, soups, fruit, desserts etc.

·                                Dried staple foods such as rice and pasta.

·                                Instant dried meals such as savoury rice and pasta, even "pot noodles".

·                                Biscuits, cereal bars dried fruits and nutritious snacks

·                                Small packs of tea bags and instant coffee, sugar and dried milk or coffee mate

If you feel you can help us this way, please deliver your gifts to our centre in Harrington Street between 9am and 4pm on weekdays or after our worship service on Sunday (about 12.30 or 1pm).
