This is an exciting new post in our evangelical Baptist church, which is committed to gospel engagement with its local community in Blackburn, Lancashire. We are looking to recruit an energetic and committed person to work as an evangelist/community worker, as part of the leadership team, with the aim of introducing people to Jesus Christ and nurturing them in their faith. Work is expected to be across all age groups, but with a particular focus on young adults/young families.

We are looking for a person with a passion for evangelism and serving those in need as well as the gifts for community engagement. Basic stipend is £20-23,000 depending on experience, plus an accommodation package and expenses.

This spring Together Lancashire is intending to carry out a piece of research to identify and put into a directory and online map a listing of all the pieces of church linked and faith based social action that currently takes place in Preston and South Ribble.

 

We need some volunteers to help us

 

We hope to have something at least as good as the maps we did for food poverty projects in Lancashire..  Have a look here to see what it may look like and how valuable such an information resource can be.

We'll be developing and sending out an online questionnaire soon after Easter and hope every church and project will complete it.

 

However we know from experience that some people hate emails and online questionnaires and that others are often too busy to prioritise entering information about their activities.  However, we have found that they are willing to help if approached personally over the phone or when sitting down with an interviewer with a questionnaire in hand.

 

This is where you might be able to help as a volunteer.

 

We are looking for a small team of people who will offer at least three hours a week in April May and posisbly June.  The tasks are

 

1) to ring up or otherwise contact church and project leaders or administrators and ask if they would answer some questions about their work.

2) to record their answers.. pereferably directly onto a computer screen or if on paper to transfer this information into the online questionnaire.

3) there may be a few other administrative tasks in connection with the survey.

 

We'll offer a training session, and expenses for phone calls and if necessary travel will be reimbursed.

You need to be interested in the project, preferably with some knowledge of the local churches and community action sector,  have a good telephone manner / interviewer rapport, and be happy with online and keyboard working. If you have your own PC, Laptop or Tablet and a broadband connection that will be very helpful too.

Adactus Housing Group Offers Breathe Investment Grants

The new Breathe Investment Grants scheme is currently accepting applications for small scale community projects that will improve the quality of life for Adactus Housing Group residents and make a real difference to the neighbourhoods where it operates.

Community and residents groups, voluntary groups, social enterprises, registered charities, schools, statutory organisations or parish/town councils can apply for grants of up to £2,000.

Projects must be delivered by 28 February 2017 and support one or more of the following priorities:

• Healthy living.
• Environmental improvements.
• Young people and children.
• Older people.
• Sustainability.
• Employment and training.
• Bringing the community together.
• Community safety.

The funding can be used for:

• Putting on an event, activity or performance.
• Buying new equipment or materials.
• Running training courses.
• Setting up a pilot project or starting up a new group.
• Paying expenses for volunteers, costs for sessional workers, or professional fees.
• Transport costs.

Projects must benefit locations where Adactus Housing Group operates and this includes areas of Bury, Bolton, Cheshire East and Cheshire West, Chorley, Craven, Lancaster, Manchester, Preston, Ribble, Rochdale, Salford, Sefton, South Ribble, St Helens, Stockport, Trafford, Warrington, Wigan, West Lancashire, and Wyre.

There are no deadlines.
